Biochem/physiol Actions: Capromorelin tartrate is a potent ghrelin receptor agonist/growth hormone secretagogue (Ki = 7 nM). In rat pituitary cells, Capromorlelin incudes growth hormone (GH) secretion with an EC50 of 3 nM. Capromorelin also increases gastric motility and has been studied recently in patients with spinal cord injuries.
General description: Capromorelin tartrate has been used in human clinical trials as a treatment for frailty in elderly adults.
General description: Capromorelin tartrate is an agonist of GHSR1a (ghrelin) receptors. It possesses structural homology with pyrazolinone-piperidine dipeptides.
