| General description: | Muscimol is a psychoactive isoxazole component, which is found in Amanita muscaria and related mushrooms. It lowers cerebral glucose metabolism and increases the level of 5-hydroxytryptamine in brain. Muscimol has hallucinogenic effects. It is associated with distorted perceptions, nausea and vomiting. |
