| Application: | Kinetin is an adenine-type cytokinin phytohormone that is used in plant culture media such as Murashige & Skoog media in conjunction with auxins such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), 1-napthaleneacetic acid (NAA) or others to induce the fomation of callus and to regenerate plant tissues from callus. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Kinetin is a type of cytokinin that is a plant hormone that promotes cell division. It is a growth factor that exerts several anti-aging and antioxidant effects on cells and organs. It is found to protect, effectively, the rat spleen from aging, apoptosis, and atrophy. It can help in inhibiting apoptosis, while promoting the proliferation of splenic lymphocyte, and effectively enhancing the immune power of the aging rats and slow down the aging process. It is also useful for enhancing phytoextraction. |
| General description: | Kinetin is a synthetic cytokinin, which functions as a plant growth regulator. |
