| Biochem/physiol Actions: | PAK3 (p21 protein (Cdc42/Rac)-activated kinase 3) is a member of the family of serine/threonine protein kinases that serve as targets for the small GTPases, Cdc42 (cell division cycle 42) and RAC (AKT1, v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1). The PAK family of proteins has been implicated in a wide range of biological activities and are involved in the control of gene transcription, cell morphology, motility and cell death. A point mutation in PAK3 gene has been linked to nonsyndromic X-linked mental retardation. PAK3 is strongly expressed in brain, mainly in the hippocampus. |
