Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) IgG from bovine serum: Cat. No. I5506: Pseudocolor Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) topography image of a magnetic latex bead functionalized with IgG antibodies for magnetic separation and concentration of biological analytes. The magnetic latex bead consists of a ferromagnetic core of CoPt3 nanoparticles, coated by a polymer shell of Poly(Butyl Acrylate) and covalently functionalized with IgG antibodies. The IgG appears as small globules wrapping the polymeric beads or attached on the surface. The image was acquired in tapping mode using a Nanoscope IIIA Multimode AFM (Digital Instruments). Submitted by Dr M. Martins, University of Aveiro

Application: Purified bovine IgG may be used as a reference antigen, standard, blocking agent, or coating protein in a variety of immunoassays including ELISA, dot immunobinding, Western immunoblotting, immunodiffusion, and immunoelectrophoresis. Other applications include starting materials for the preparation of immunogens and solid phase immunoadsorbents. Bovine IgG was used as control in electrophoresis and in liquid chromatography.

General description: IgG antibody subtype is the most abundant serum immunoglobulins of the immune system. It is secreted by B cells and is found in blood and extracellular fluids and provides protection from infections caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. Maternal IgG is transferred to fetus through the placenta that is vital for immune defence of the neonate against infections
Bovine IgG is purified from pooled normal bovine serum by fractionation and ion-exchange chromatography.

New Tariffs & Effects on Pricing

Tariff note: As we navigate the current environment of tariff surcharges and mid-year manufacturer price increases, we want to keep you informed. While we have avoided making specific decisions thus far, we anticipate that we will be forced to implement a cost adjustment policy to offset the fees we have already been absorbing. We are committed to transparency and moderation in this process.
