| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Surfactant protein D (SFTPD) plays an important role in innate immune system. It is linked to macrophage mediated inhibition of interleukin IL-12p40 via signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα)/ Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK)/ extracellular signal regulated kinases (ERK) signalling pathway. The protein plays an anti-inflammatory role in lungs. SFTPD maintains surfactant homeostasis by regulating the structure of surfactant phospholipids. |
