| General description: | Balanced Salt solutions (BSS) are essential in cell culture as they serve as irrigating, transporting, and diluting agents to maintain the osmotic balance between intra-and extracellular spaces. They provide cells with water, inorganic ions, and energy for normal cell metabolism. BSS also provides a buffering system to maintain the medium within the optimum pH range (7.2-7.6). |
