| Application: | Histone H2A human has been used as a neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) to study its effects on the membrane integrity and viability of macrophages (MFS) and dendritic cells (DCS). It has also been used in far-western blot analysis for protein identification. |
| Biochem/physiol Actions: | Histones modulate the accessibility of DNA during transcription, DNA replication, DNA repair, and recombination. N and C terminal tails undergo post-translational modifications (PTMs) altering DNA wrapping and chromatin regulation. |
| General description: | Histones are highly basic chromatin proteins. They tightly pack and organize eukaryotic DNA to form nucleosomes. A nucleosome comprises an octameric core histone made of a tetramer of histones H3 and H4 with two dimers of histones H2A and H2B. The 147 DNA base pairs are wrapped around the histone complex. H2A consists of a C-terminal tail extending out of the nucleosome core particle. |
