Application: ExtrAvidin®-Peroxidase is suitable for the following applications:
• Dot blot at a minimum dilution of 1:4,000
• Immunohistochemistry (using formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections at a dilution of 1:100)
• Direct ELISA at a minimum dilution of 1:2,000
It has also been used for:
• Immunoprecipitation and Immunobloting
• Ra2I solid-phase binding assays
• Southwestern blotting
• Western blotting
• Immunocytochemistry
Biochem/physiol Actions: Avidin is a tetrameric or dimeric biotin-binding protein produced in the oviducts of birds, reptiles and amphibians and deposited in the whites of their eggs. It consists of four high affinity binding sites for biotin. ExtrAvidin® is prepared from egg white avidin. It is a modified form of affinity purified avidin with high specific activity of avidin and low background staining of streptavidin. It is a biotin binding protein produced by the bacteria Streptomyces avidinii. ExtrAvidin-Peroxidase may be used in conjunction with biotin in different techniques.
Biochem/physiol Actions: The product is found to be reactive with Anti-Avidin, Catalog Number A5170, and non-reactive with Anti-Streptavidin, Catalog Number S6390, by immunoelectrophoresis.
