| Application: | 1-Bromo-3-chloropropane has been used in molecular biology applications for the isolation of high quality RNA from: • feline teeth • mice brain and liver tissues • human ectocervical epithelial cells • placental samples • human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) |
| Features and Benefits: | • less toxic alternative to chloroform • compatible with TRI reagent for isolation of RNA with decreased DNA contamination |
| General description: | BCP can be used in place of chloroform and is less toxic. The use of BCP in the single-step TRI reagent method decreases the possibility of contaminating RNA with DNA. It does not adversely affect quality or quantity of the isolated RNA. 1-Bromo-3-chloropropane is a phase separation reagent used in protocols for isolation of nucleic acids. |
| Other Notes: | BCP can be used in place of chloroform, and is less toxic. The use of BCP in the single-step TRI Reagent method decreases the possibility of contaminating RNA with DNA. It does not adversely affect quality or quantity of the isolated RNA. |
