| Biochem/physiol Actions: | FEM1B [fem-1 homolog b (C. elegans)] gene encodes a protein which is a homolog of feminization-1 (FEM-1), a protein involved in the sex-determination pathway of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. It stimulates ubiquitylation of Gli1 as well as inhibits its transcriptional activity. It is a proapoptotic protein that facilitates proteasome inhibitor-induced apoptosis of human colon cancer cells. Additionally, FEM1B serves as an adapter or mediator protein that links CHK1 and Rad9 and facilitates checkpoint signaling induced by replication stress. |
