Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood. |
| General description: | Recombinant construct with N-terminal deletion of Asp. Structurally equivalent to native albumin by x-ray crystallography. The N-terminal Asp is the principal Cu2+ and Ni2+ chelation site; its deletion eliminates an important antigenic determinant, and the protein is hypoallergenic. Also blocked at Cys34 to improve stability, monomer content and homogeneity. |
