Recent studies highlight that racemization of L-aspartic acid is followed by the determination of D:L ratio to estimate the age of an individual.
General description: Aspartic acid is a non-essential amino acid. L-Aspartic acid is a dicarboxylic amino acid, which is involved in the synthesis of nerve cells proteins. It also stimulates the depolarization of nerve cell membranes. L-Aspartic acid acts as an amine donor for transamination reaction.
