Application: Formamide can be used as a solvent:• To synthesize tetrakis(trialkylsilyl) diphosphate by reacting disodium dihydrogen diphosphate with trialkyl chlorosilane.
• In Cu/C catalyzed cycloaddition between azides and terminal alkynes to synthesize triazoles.
Application: Formamide destabilizes nucleic acid duplexes and may be used, typically, at a concentration of 50%, in hybridization protocols requiring lower hybridization temperatures.
General description: Formamide is a polar solvent mainly used for resins and plasticizers. It can be prepared by direct synthesis from carbon monoxide and ammonia.
