General description: Diethyl ether (DEE) is a flammable and highly volatile organic compound commonly used as a solvent in organic synthesis. DEE can generate organic peroxides when stored for a long time, which can be prevented by adding butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as a stabilizer. BHT scavenges the free radicals required for peroxide formation.
