Application:	Due to its strong affinity towards sulfur, it finds application as a reagent in desulfurization reactions. Mercury(II) acetate may be used in the preparation of mercury(II) acetate-Nafion modified electrode, which can be used in anodic stripping voltammetry for the analysis of lead and copper ions in waste water samples.
Application:	Mercury(II) acetate may be used in the preparation of 2-benzylidene-3(2H)-benzofuran-3-ones (aurones). It may be used in the hydrothermal synthesis of [Hg₂(apca)₂]_n [apca = 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate], a new mercury(I)-organic framework based on Hg₂^{2 +} dumbbell.
