Inactivation of Penicillin G* 10,000,000 IU/mL/min

*Not all penicillins are comparable to Penicillin G in regards to their inactivation by penicillinase. Some may require as much as 20 times more penicillinase than does Penicillin G

Potency** 20,000 Levy units/ml/min

**Levy Unit (LU): amount of penicillinase that inactivates 59.3 IU( International Units) of Sodium Penicillin G per minute at 25°C and pH 7.0
General description: Penicillinase Concentrate is a highly purified enzyme preparation that contains β-Lactamase, which is also known as penicillinase. It is a ready-to-use solution that can be directly added to test samples (for the inactivation of beta-lactams from blood or tissue samples before routine microbiological examination) or can be used in media preparation (for either environmental monitoring or antibiotic sterility testing). This concentrate is specifically designed for use in microbiology as a supplement to culture media to deactivate antibiotics in microbial samples. It can inactivate Penicillin G, one of the commonly used Penicillin, at an impressive rate of 10,000,000 International Units (IU) per mL per minute.

Penicillinase Concentrate is a valuable tool for hydrolyzing and inactivating the β-lactam ring found in penicillin and other related antibiotics. It plays a critical role in studying antibiotic resistance mechanisms and in the development of antibiotic detection assays.
