General description: Eosin Y, also known as Eosin yellowish is a widely used xanthene dye. It is a counterstain that is used to distinguish between various connective tissue fibers & matrices, and the cytoplasm of different types of cells. Eosin in combination with hematoxylin is useful to demonstrate the general histological architecture of a tissue.
