Corning® Pyrex® Continuous Heavier Than Water Liquid/Liquid Extractor Modular Assembly
By CorningVersatile modular 1L Pyrex® continuous extractor systems are for use with solvents of heavier specific gravity than the sample liquid being extracted. Modular components are easier to clean and maintain and offer more flexibility. The systems are designed to meet EPA test method requirements outlined by SW-845, RCRA, and CLP. Extraction can be performed outside the hood. A ventilation system used above or near the units in case of a drop in condenser water temperature or loss of condenser cold water supply is recommended.
This system uses modular components and can therefore be configured as two different systems:
- The Continuous Liquid/Liquid Extractor uses a plain Column Sidearm (Cat.No. 1-3928-MSAO) and 500mL round-bottom flask (Cat.No. 1-4320-500). The crossover tube is fitted with a PTFE stopcock to impede the flow to the flask when changing over from base or neutral extractions to acidic extractions or at the end of the run.
- The Continuous Liquid/Liquid Extractor/Concentrator uses a Snyder Column Sidearm (Cat.No. 1-3928-MSCO) and a Kuderna-Danish flask (Cat.No. 1-2158-500FO) with a Collection Tube (Cat.No. 1-2157-10TO). Allows the use of the same solvent for both basic and acidic extractions. This system does not require an apparatus change to switch from extracting to concentrating. As a result, sample handling is reduced as well as overall technician time required.
Assembling the complete system requires the purchase of eight separate components: extractor body, condenser, crossover tube, sidearm column and flask as well as small and large ball joint clamps and Viton O-rings.
