Immunofluorescence Anti-ATG5 (N-terminal): Cat. No. A0856: Endogenous Atg5-positive neurons and their projections are highlighted by immunofluorescent labeling (red) in the central nervous system of feeding stage Drosophila larvae. Immunoblotting Human K562 cell extract was separated on SDS-PAGE and blotted with Rabbit Anti-ATG5 (N-terminal) (Cat. No. A0856). The antibody was developed with Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG, Peroxidase conjugate (Cat. No. A0545) and a chemiluminescent substrate. The antibody recognizes the Atg5-Atg12 complex. | Biochem/physiol Actions: | Atg5 (Apg5) is a 32 kDa protein that is required for autophagy. Atg5 is covalently modified by Atg12, a ubiquitin-like modifier. The Atg12-Atg5-Atg16 complex thus formed, localizes to autophagosome precursors and regulates autophagosome formation. Studies have reported that Atg5 fragment that is formed by calpain cleavage has pro-apoptotic properties. |
