Application: | Mettler-Toledo calibration standard ME 18872, caffeine (234-236.5 °C) finds its use in the calibration of thermosystem 900, in both pharmacopeia and thermodynamic modes of operation. This mp standard is also employed as a temperature calibration standard in thermal analysis techniques. |
Biochem/physiol Actions: | A central nervous system stimulant believed to act through adenosine receptors and monoamine neurotransmitters. It is an adenosine receptor antagonist and adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) phosphodiesterase inhibitor. Thus, levels of cAMP increase in cells following treatment with caffeine. It has been reported to affect cellular calcium levels, releasing calcium from intracellular stores. It overrides the cell cycle effects of various chemicals such as protease inhibitors, preventing apoptosis; and it has been shown to inhibit cellular DNA repair mechanisms. |
Features and Benefits: | • Melting point calibration standard traceable to a primary standard from LGC, London • Melting points measured in both thermodynamic and pharmacopeia modes • Available with certificates of analysis and safety data sheet • A product of analytical standard grade that meets the QC/QA requirements of melting point analysis • Ready-to-use melting point standard, supplied as a finely ground powder |
General description: | Caffeine Mettler-Toledo melting point standard is useful for the routine calibration of Mettler-Toledo melting point instrument. The value for its melting point equals an average of 6 to 12 measurements with a Mettler-Toledo MP70 excellence melting point instrument that is calibrated with primary standards. |
